Leaders of tomorrow at Kāsiga

cbse school in Dehradun India

Each day at Kāsiga is a learning experience. At Kāsiga, we put strenuous efforts to inculcate the need to evolve and make sure that students do expand their skill set to be ready for all the challenges thrown at them.

One such effort at Kāsiga is called the Prefectorial System wherein a Student Council body is appointed after a rigorous process and only the ones who stand out become prefects.

The prefectorial system at Kāsiga capacitates students to develop appropriate skills, values, and attitudes. Prefects are elected through a democratic and intensive process involving nominations, campaigns, and a series of interviews with the Head Of School and senior management. India is the largest democracy in the world and this whole process gives them a glimpse of it. Thus, giving them a fair view of the thought process of electing or becoming a leader.

The prefects chosen have a three-fold responsibility

  • To be inspiring student leaders
  • To be a laudable role model
  • To act as cultural ambassadors of the school

It’s an esteemed opportunity for young individuals to learn the nuances of leadership, maintain discipline and appropriate ethos among the student community and maintain Kāsiga’s image not only in Uttarakhand but also in India.

The prefectorial body consists of 13 members under different disciplines. The school appointments comprise of Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head boy, Deputy Head Girl, Sports Captain, and Academic Prefect. Each House has a Prefect and a House captain. Besides these, there is a Sports Captain and a Cultural Captain.

Prefects are mentored and guided by the senior management and the principal. The school also provides the training to do their job ethically and efficiently. Not only this, but they are also given opportunities to interact with professionals who can inspire and guide them to become better leaders and handle the toughest of situations with ease.
