Kāsiga, as we all know is one of the best co-educational boarding schools in Dehradun. What makes it the best apart from its esteemed faculty and exceptional students are the modern amenities, state of the art infrastructure and strong core values. Spread over 35 acres, it is located 3000 ft above the sea level in the foothills of the Himalayas with a backdrop of Mussorie hills; houses students from different parts of the world accompanied by compassionate staff and scholarly faculty.
Boarding House – Hostel life is essentially the core value for any boarding school. At Kāsiga, students are divided into 4 houses – Pacific, Amazon, Everest, and the Nile with each house having a separate boarding area. Since our school has students from grade 4 to grade 12 with a mix of both genders, our boarding areas are strategically designed and carefully allocated to ensure a cohesive, respectful and playful environment. Each house is under the care of an experienced housemaster who is assisted by a resident tutor and a matron. The boarding area has a lot of open spaces where children can enjoy spending time together. Each house also has a common room where students can watch television or play board games. The students live in unison with each other making it a lively, fun and learning experience.
Pastoral Care – We take deep pride in our pastoral care program where we are committed to the growth and well being of each and every student as well as the school community as a whole. The pillars of Kāsiga’s pastoral care program include:
a. Creating a sense of belonging through team-building activities, such as working together on service projects
b. Facilitating Peer Support Programs
c. Developing a feeling of sharing, caring and respecting individual needs.
d. Tracking individual student progress
e. Enabling early intervention in identifying and dealing with specific needs
f. Celebrating the child’s achievements and contributions
g. Providing guidance regarding study patterns, peer relations, post-school pathways and opportunities
h. Providing counseling and comfort for children dealing with anxiety, loss or disappointment
i. Provision of good role models both at school and at home
Safety and Security – We have developed a strict security policy to ensure the safety of all. Security is provided round-the-clock on the campus and a solid security network ensures maximum effort is made in this regard. The Safety and Security Department monitors and responds to all emergencies 24×7. They also train the guards and keep them updated. We’ve also set up emergency routes and ensure that all the safety drills are done on a regular basis. Kāsiga also takes a strong stand against drug and alcohol abuse, along with a zero-tolerance policy towards bullying. In addition to the mentoring system, a school counselor is available to assist students. We also have an in house full-time doctor and are also associated with the Max Hospital in case of emergencies. The school also has its own ambulance for medical emergencies.
Food and Nutrition – Kāsiga’s catering department and the mess committee along with a qualified nutritionist take all the steps to ensure a well-balanced diet of all its students. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian food from across Indian, Chinese, Continental and Thai cuisines are often served in the mess. The menu is extensive and is changed regularly in consultation with the mess committee members and the students. This combination of taste, health, and nutrition never lets students get bored with the food while also maintaining their daily dietary intake.
